ALLI : The pill which makes you lose weight. What do you think about this ?
66
Announced as the miracle pill to lose weight fast, ALLI revolutionizes the world of the diets because it is the first medicine sold freely in pharmacy without prescription.
Is it really effective, for whom, is it dangerous for health, which are the side effects and where to find it ?
We inform you about all that you always wanted to know about ALLI.
ALLI What is it ? :
Distributed by the American laboratory GSK ( GlaxoSmithKline), ALLI is a medicine intended for the treatment of the obesity. Its active molecule is Orlistat, marketed for already several years under the brand Xenical (Roche laboratories). The difference results in the dosage, twice less for ALLI (60 mg) than for Xenical (120 mg).
The medicine prevents the absorption of fats which we find in the food (until 25 %). As soon as you eat a food containing some fat and as soon as it enters the digestive system, the medicine is going to act on the bowel and to prevent the fat from being decomposed by the natural enzymes of the body then is going to eliminate it by natural way (by going to stool).
The pill is effective only if its grip is accompanied with a low in calories diet and in fats accompanied with a physical activity. It would allow to lose additional 50 % weighty that with a single diet (example: objective to lose 10 kilos, you can lose 15 with ALLI).
ALLI, yes but for whom ? :
With enormous set up advertising and marketing means and after an enormous buzz on Internet, it is henceforth available over-the-counter in pharmacies.
It is one of numerous debates on ALLI, because do not forget, this pill anti-fat is above all a medicine intended for the obese persons and in overweight. The fact that it is freely sold and all the advertising which is all around made is doubtless going to attract a wider clientele, persons wishing to make simple diets or to make look slimmer some kilos before summer.
The problem is that this pill is really effective only for persons in mattering overweight having an BMI* superior to 25, thus persons having a disease and that must be looked after by a medicine.
For the others who simply want to lose some kilos have to make an adapted diet and sport.
It is not certainly a miracle pill in the sense where it must be associated with strict rules of hygiene and with physical activities to be effective and allow a loss of weight from 5 to 10 % on average for the persons in overweight. For others, it will be ineffective.
It is not either a revolutionary medicine, because as we said it is the by-product of Xenical, that already exists for several years.
Pay attention on the side effects :
Diarrheas, bloating stomach, flatulences, everything is sincere, the pill ALLI have not only advantages. Given that the medicine blocks the absorption of fats at the intestinal level, if you have no adapted and poor food in fat, you will undergo inevitably these side effects. It does not encourage to educate to have a well-balanced food, because we say to ourselves that all the fat is going to be evacuated!
Other inconvenient is that the pill can make vitamin deficiencies, in particular A, D, E, K. It is moreover recommended to add contributions in vitamins during the treatment.
You want to lose weight, you risk to take it much more
The pharmacist: a crucial role
Difficult for the pharmacists not to be attracted by the lure of gain, especially since the pill ALLI is alone sold. Difficult to resist a customer attracted by the media hype made around the medicine, which absolutely wants to buy ALLI while she is not in overweight or of the one who is going to invent a story to get it itself. More than ever the pharmacist has to hold his role of influencer, advice and not become a simple till.
The posology :
The posology is 3 capsules a day at the time of every meal, thus boxes allow you a treatment from 14 days to 28 days.
The treatment does not have to exceed 6 months.
BMI* : Body Mass Index
The BMI is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to adult men and women.
How to calculate it ?
Divide your weight by your size in the square (in m)
For example if you are 60 kilos for 1m65:
60/1,65² = 60/2,7225 = 22
The values correspond to the criteria defined by the WHO (World Health Organization) :
- Underweight = <18.5
- Normal weight = 18.5–24.9
- Overweight = 25–29.9
- Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater
